National Service: Will you pass training?

The UK government have proposed a National Service for 16-18 year olds, which would involve a one-year program of military-style training, community service, or work experience. The aim is to prepare young people for work, education, and life, while also promoting social cohesion and national service.

If the proposal goes ahead, it would potentially benefit individuals in a number of ways:

  1. Help young people develop essential skills, such as teamwork, discipline, and time management.

  2. Provide a sense of purpose and belonging.

  3. Encourage young people to take responsibility for their education and career choices.

  4. Teach young people the importance of exercise & diet.
