Looking for an intense challenge? Last month, most of the Recharge team took part in the 301, a challenge designed to test your strength, conditioning & mentality, all within a set time-frame.
You will need:
1x Barbell (3 Barbells allows an easier transition between exercises)
Bumper Plates (Enough to cover your bodyweight, along with the barbell)
1x Flat Bench
1x Barbell Rack (Spotting someone during would be a challenge itself)
Treadmill (Optional)
Determination (Must)
The Challenge
You will be completing 3 exercises for 100 reps each, using a total weight equivalent to your bodyweight e.g. Barbell + Bumper Plates = Bodyweight. Finally completing the challenge with a 1 mile run (If that wasn't already enough on the legs), all 4 stations within the time of 1 hour.
Our recommendation of order is:
100 Reps of Squats
100 Reps of Bench Press
100 Reps of Deadlifts
1 Mile Run
By breaking apart the two leg weight-exercises with the upper-body bench press, it'll give the legs a rest after the first exercise. Also, squats would be easier to do first as a 1 mile straight afterwards would feel more tiring due to hitting similar muscle groups.
Our Results
3 of our members have tried the challenge, all with mixed adaptations. Here's what happened:
Ryan has taken part in the challenge 3 times, completing all exercises for 100 reps with the 1 mile run with a best time of 1:28:40 at a bodyweight of 82.5kg 👏
I've only done the challenge once, completing both leg exercises for 100 reps, but unable to finish 100 reps of bench press, calling it off at 42 reps 👎 Soldiering on, I ran the 1 mile and finished the challenge with a total time of 1:29:20 at a bodyweight of 85kg 😮💨
Lisa also took part in the challenge with varied weights, but no recorded time, however, she smashed all 3 exercises for 100 reps & blasted the 1 mile run 🚀
