I love exercise and am keen to get back into it as soon as I can after having my first son. Some advice from mums on when I can start, and what sort of exercises to start with would be great. Thank you.

Hi Lisa! Absolutely, I felt exactly the same after I had my daughter. It’s totally normal to want to get back into your exercise routine, especially if you have always been very active, however it is super important to recover and listen to your body. I would suggest waiting until your six week check with your doctor to get signed off to exercise but gentle walking and post-natal yoga would be fine to do before, if you feel up to it. I started with walking, then built up to running & swimming and then moved on to body weight circuits. I will be starting a Buggy Fitness group in various parks in Bristol from late August/September, as I did a similar thing where I lived in Northampton and really enjoyed it, plus it’s a great way to meet other mums!
